Steven O’Dea Racing has prepared four winners from the last three Sunshine Coast meetings, none more impressive than Friday night’s victor JEWELIANA.
JEWELIANA drifted in the market to start a $6 chance in the 1400m BM80 Handicap while stablemate GEE TEE TEE was heavily supported to start the $3.50 favourite.
But in a somewhat surprising result, JEWELIANA came with a withering burst to score in dominant fashion.
The three-year-old filly was travelling keen towards the rear of the field and appeared unlikely to make an impression on the leaders until some expert navigation from jockey Baylee Nothdurft.
The daughter of ALL TOO HARD sliced through the field before hitting the front at the 100m mark and racing away by a widening two lengths.
JEWELIANA is owned by long-time client Mr Rapisarda whose familiar orange and green colours were also worn by the filly’s stakes-winning dam BIANCA JEWEL.
JEWELIANA’s win followed a stable treble at the same venue only two weeks ago. The winners on the occasion were HE’S IMPOSING, TOTALLY CHARMED and GEE TEE TEE.
