Real Sting returns to the winners circle

Jun 15, 2015

Real Sting broke through for his maiden victory last Wednesday, with an impressive win over 1640m at Doomben.

Settling in the second half of the field in the early stages, the three year old was soon shuffled back to tail when the pace slackened.  He commenced to overrace then had to be restrained by Tim Bell and was last approaching the turn.  Bell bought him to the outside on straightening and the Real Saga gelding unleashed a powerful finish to run down the leader and score by a nose.

Having previously been unplaced in his three runs prior, the win was a welcome relief for trainer Steven O'Dea, as Real Sting had shown potential at home but was yet to produce it on raceday
