Pasquinel dominates at Doomben
Feb 09, 2014
Race caller Alan Thomas' description of Pasquinel after he crossed the line on Wednesday was spot on. Thomas remarked several times that the gelding is enjoying his racing and that fact was evident for all to see in the way in which he won.
The four year old recorded his forth win from his last five starts, taking out the Glenlogan Colts, Geldings and Entires Benchmark 70 Handicap at Doomben with ease.
Starting a short priced favourite, Pasquinel always looked to have the 1350m event in his grasp as he travelled comfortably back in the field. Rider Kirk Matheson guided him away from the rail and into the clear and the race looked over. Pasquinel pulled away to score by two and a half lengths over runner up Saveeda.
Trainer Steven O'Dea will now look to the One Metro Win Handicap over a mile at Doomben next Saturday as he aims for a hat-trick.
