Reward for effort for Legal Tender at Eagle Farm
Aug 29, 2012
Legal Tender earned a just reward for his consistency when he strolled to victory in the Sequalo @ Lyndhurst Maiden (1800m) at Eagle Farm.
The five-year-old has worked into a solid vein of form in his first preparation for the Steven O’Dea stable, recording two seconds from his previous three runs for the camp prior to his Eagle Farm success.
The Dash For Cash gelding stepped up to 1800 metres for the first time in Wednesday’s $13,000 event.
Legal Tender relaxed like a promising stayer to comfortably take a midfield position on his own under the riding of Kiwi apprentice Maija Vance.
Vance peeled Legal Tender into clear galloping room halfway down the straight. The gelding relished the open spaces of the Eagle Farm track as well as the rise in distance to win powerfully.
Legal Tender scored his first win at his eighth attempt by 1-1/2 lengths to take his prizemoney tally to more than $14,000.
Congratulations to his Legal Tender’s owners and breeders – Mr D and Mrs L Kennedy.
